Imagine This
Imagine a life...
where you have true freedom to pursue what you want
where paying for healthcare and housing and the other essentials in life is not a concern
where your labor actually benefits the common good rather than the greed of the few
where technology is utilized to eliminate scarcity
where community is valued above all else
We're looking for like-minded individuals and organizations to help make the plan. Only by creating consensus can we dare to hope for a better future.
The Purpose of eldfjall.org
There are many books, philosophies, organizations, and opinions for what the utopian society would look like. Our goal is to provide a site to build a general consensus for the following:
the vision
requirements to fulfill the vision
a societal structure to implement the requirements
a transition plan
Note that the approach to societal change that we at eldfjall.org are espousing is "top down" rather than "bottom up". We do not believe that lasting change can happen by building small utopias within the existing system (and hoping for critical mass) because: 1) necessary resources will not be available on less than a national (regional? global?) scale, 2) building infrastructure (and utilizing labor in general) is much more inefficient if expertise must be replicated in each community, and 3) small utopias are easier for the current ruling class to stamp out as opposed to a pervasive and organized movement. While we DO NOT advocate for violent revolution, we DO believe that America's late-stage capitalism will implode sooner rather than later. With this thought in mind we hope to have a plan in place for a better society to rise from the ashes.
You can only do your best. That's all you can do. And if it isn't good enough, it isn't good enough.
