A World Without Money?

What would an America without banks, corporate profits, mortgages, healthcare premiums, and student loan debt be like? Where cooperation was the norm rather than competition? Where motivation to work came from recognition for our contribution to the Common Good rather than showing that we had a bigger house and more toys than our neighbor?

What's keeping us from even imagining this kind of life? Most likely it's the capitalism under which we've all grown up, the constant bombardment of ads and commercials and promises of the "American Dream".
