The basic duties of a national government

Agencies - each agency will be governed by a board of industry experts. Each will set and maintain a prioritized list of policies oriented to the well-being of the greatest number of citizens. Each policy will have a suggested budget and how best to fund (tax policy).

  • Health - responsible for providing quality healthcare for all. Controls the training and certification of healthcare professionals. Owns all medical facilities and equipment, employs most healthcare workers. Coordinates and funds medical research.

  • Finance - responsible for money creation/destruction based on population. Loans money to and regulates savings and loan institutions for lending to individuals and companies. INTEREST IS OUTLAWED. Regulates decentralized investment: NO DERIVATIVES, NO SHORTING, enforces minimum length of time a security must be held (six months?). Collects taxes and publishes tax code

  • Education - responsible for establishing baseline curriculum for all grade levels K-10 focused on critical thinking skills; students then may choose specialized training in a specific vocation or continue with general studies. Funding for training in specific vocations will be provided; those vocations will be selected based on their utility for the general welfare, e.g. science/math/engineering/math, architecture/construction, etc.

  • Interior - responsible for maintaining national infrastructure including highways, mass transportation, energy production, electric supply and grid, water maintenance and distribution, telecommunications. Oversees public lands and resources, environmental quality. Should private ownership of land be allowed? If so, should the federal government establish property taxes based on type of usage?

  • Housing - regulates, incentivizes, and creates housing as needed.

  • Agriculture - regulates agriculture and oversees food production/import/export

  • Commerce - regulates business other than agriculture, healthcare, finance, education. Establishes and maintains labor regulations and corporate law. Maintains and enforces patents; patent term one year. Enforces 20-to-1 wage ratio, minimum wage, antitrust considerations, recycling requirements

  • Justice - responsible for defining and enforcing criminal and civil law. Maintains standards and oversees training for police

  • Defense - responsibility will be limited to national defense and support for allies. Budget will be greatly reduced from current allocation. Protection of US companies operating outside of the US will NOT be a priority. Handles veterans affairs other than healthcare

  • Foreign Relations - US representatives to international organizations. Suggested budget items will reflect a given organization's or country's alignment with US Constitutional intent.

Support for all agencies

  • Constitutional Review - provides analysis of proposed policies as to Constitutional intent. May also propose changes to the Constitution itself to resolve ambiguities

  • Budget - provides analysis of proposed budget items to determine accuracy and feasibility

  • Technology - proposes and oversees development of technological solutions

  • HR - standard HR stuff. Oversees and investigates ethics violations

Oversight committee

  • reviews budget items from all agencies for Constitutional intent

  • selects mandatory items (in prioritized order) from all agencies to implement in the next year

  • collects data from the public regarding additional items to implement (initiatives, referendums)

  • creates unified tax code for the next year

  • oversees and approves major Defense Agency actions

The purpose of national government is to:

  • protect its citizens from outside interference - a military defense

  • protect its citizens from each other - establish and enforce a uniform criminal law

  • ensure that the basic needs (food, housing, education, healthcare) of all current and future citizens are met. Public tax dollars should be spent efficiently and effectively

Our thoughts on how the US government should work....

How government might be structured

Regain control of the money supply and Wall Street

  • money creation/destruction as needed (based on GDP?)

  • interest is outlawed

  • no such thing as fractional reserves!

  • no shorting, no derivatives

Let the technocrats suggest the solutions and let the citizens have the final say (eliminate politicians!)

  • doctors and medical researchers in charge of our universal healthcare

  • teachers establish curricula and textbooks for K-12

  • engineers in charge of infrastructure and land usage

  • farmers, food producers, and medical researchers in charge of food production

  • regulators in charge of general commerce

  • environmentalists in charge of natural resources

  • military strategists, engineers, and accountants in charge of our bloated military

Constitutional scholars in charge of everything! Make sure decisions made are in the best interest of the ninety-nine percent that do the work!
